Q: Ziac and Lisinopril both give me muscle pains. However, I am allergic to sulfa drugs. Could the muscle pains be a reaction to the sulfonamides in the BP meds?
A: As muscles cramps are a known side effect to the drug Ziac, it is possible Ziac is the cause of your muscle pain. Plain Lisinopril (without an added diuretic) should not cause this problem. People with allergies to sulfonamides may react to drugs containing a thiazide diuretic because of cross-sensitivity. Tell your doctor what you are experiencing.
