Lotensin and BC Powder

Q: My husband has high BP and when he gets a headache or a backache he takes BC (a powdered medicine). He is currently on 40mg of Lotensin for his BP medication. Is this dangerous for him to do? Should he replace the pain reliever he takes?

A: BC Powder is basically a combination of aspirin and caffeine. With controlled blood pressure, there should not be a problem using this medication on an intermittent basis. Both caffeine and aspirin elevate blood pressure so daily use could make blood pressure more difficult to control.
