A: The FDA has approved the use of EDTA as a treatment for heavy metal poisoning, not hypertension. There are people who believe it is effective orally to lower cholesterol and high blood pressure. The medical data to support this is scanty. There are a few studies where a very small number of patients took varying doses of EDTA for a short period of time with beneficial results.
