Can some blood pressure medications raise your pressure instead of lowering it?

Q: Can some blood pressure medications have the opposite effect of increasing your blood pressure instead of lowering it?

A: Generally speaking, blood pressure medication lowers blood pressure. However, with any medication an adverse or bad reaction can occur which could result in the elevation of blood pressure. A more typical response to blood pressure medication would just be a failure to lower blood pressure to an acceptable range.
