What is the treatment for peripheral vascular disease?

Q: I have high BP and am diabetic, and by means of medicines and lifestyle modifications, these are under control ie. readings are 100/60 and 4.6 respectively. But I suffer from PVD (Peripheral Vascular Disease) as well. Will PVD hinder the effects of the medicines for BP and diabetes in the future?

A: You are doing an excellent job of controlling your blood pressure and blood glucose. Good control of diabetes and high blood pressure is the mainstay of slowing the progression of peripheral vascular disease. It may take more medication or different medications to keep you in good control as your peripheral vascular disease progresses.
