Supplement making pulse rate low.

Q: I am taking alginal a sea based dirivitive. It shoots down my high blood pressure from 172 to 97, but my pulse rates goes to 104. Should I be concerned? thank you

A: I assume you are talking about alginates. They come from brown algae in seaweed. Various forms are used both medically and in food products. The source and processing of the seaweed can affect quality. It sounds like you taking too much or are having a bad reaction to taking the form you are taking. Your blood pressure is dropping so much your heart speeds up to keep blood to your brain. To learn more about alginates go to this page on Wikipedia.com.
