How to relax your heart at night.

Q: I have high systolic blood pressure, and want to relax my heart at night. Which is best: head up, feet up, hammock position, flat or inverted hammock position?

A: The best position for you is the one that makes you most comfortable and affords you a good nights sleep. There is no question that sleep is important for health as indicated by this article on healthypeople.gov. The best sleeping position for heart health is not clear. There was mention in a 2004 American Heart Association Meeting that sleeping on your stomach lead to lower blood pressure. However, I was unable to find the study mentioned or any follow-up studies.
