(Courier Journal) — I received an e-mail from a wife who is frustrated with her husband, who refuses to take his blood-pressure medication because it gives him unpleasant side effects. She has tried to convince him that having side effects is a small price to pay for being healthy.
She wanted me to try to “talk some sense into him.”
Let me begin by taking the husband’s point of view. His stance, no doubt, seems reasonable to him. When blood pressure is high, there typically are no symptoms. For that reason, it is referred to as the silent killer. To him, no symptoms means no problem. This is wrong, but he doesn’t know that, which makes it seem reasonable that he shouldn’t have to take a drug, and certainly not a drug that causes him distress.
The problem is that neither the husband nor the wife sees the situation accurately, and they don’t see the kinds of options that are available. Let’s take a look at the issues and find a solution.

A person with high blood pressure needs to find out the underlying cause. He could possibly be treated without drugs. If the 1st thing a docotor does is put you on drugs then find a doctor who knows the natural methods.
My blood pressure went 220 over 140 very high. I am an identical twin and my twin’s blood pressure is very good. I inherited these genes from my grandmother and father. I have lost weight and excercise and now trying to eat greens, vegetables, salads. My blood pressure has gone to 160/90 so better and I am still working on this. I would love to hear other feedback on how to lower blood pressure without taking two blood pressure pills. Thank You, Kathy

First thing is to rule out renal artery stenosis, coarctation of aorta and other causes of this.
