High blood pressure at night while on medication

Q: Why does my BP go up at night when I am on high BP meds?

A: Blood pressure is not constant throughout the day. Normally it is highest in the early morning as this is when our internal body clock gets our body functions started for the day. If your pressure is out of control at night, you are at risk for even higher pressure in the early morning. You should talk to your doctor about how you are taking your medications. Changing the time of day or the amount of medication may get you in better control.
