Effect of gap between systolic and diastolic pressure

Q:  Are there any negative consequences of a large gap between systolic and diastolic pressure? My systolic averages 150 and diastolic 60. I take Diovan 16mg in the morning and Bystolic mg at night.

A:  The difference between your systolic pressure and your diastolic pressure is your pulse pressure.  A high pulse pressure, such as yours at 90, suggests your blood vessels are not healthy. I suggest you talk to your doctor about getting your blood pressure into better control.
