Coversyl Lowering the Diastolic Number, but Not Systolic.

Q: I am on coversyl 8mg and amlopine 2.5 per day. With this my blood pressure came down low to 116/72 range. I was advised to reduce the dose to alternate days. With that reduction the BP is odd at 138/66 to 142/70. The systolic remains high with low diastolic. What should I do?

A: It is very difficult to control blood pressure precisely. Symptoms and side effects are used to guide how tightly blood pressure can be controlled. Currently, your blood pressure is in reasonable control. I assume your doctor reduced your dose because you were having symptoms of low pressure or experiencing side effects. If not, make an appointment to discuss this further with your doctor.
