I agree it is a pain to get hooked up, but I did get used to it and dont mind anymore. I was also nervous at the start, but eventually Resperate started to work. I hope this continues. I also wwould like a Resperate with out the hookup, but cant imagine that happening.
Has any one looked into asking for a larger blood pressure cuff. this also worked for me. In Drs. office I am very high, but having a weekly check by a nurse who used the larger cuff I am almost normal while on 100 Losarten.

Good luck.

Suggest a 24-hour monitor. Also whatever happens check Dr John McDougall's website for nutritional information or even join a 10-day program. He appears to have good results. I have been following the McDougall program for a few years and my BP has come down considerably, although not to the point where I wish it would be. However it is below the point where my doctor would prescribe medication. Main reason I can not follow the McDougall program 100% is because of sabotage by family members and friends - and my own occasional failings!

marmotte, I will see that and raise you. I have gone to the source and read the studies that have been done about the supposed risks of hypertension, and it is my firm belief that there are no risks. No ine can show a correlation between blood pressure and stroje or cardiac events. It simply does not exist. Moreover, blood pressure did not become such an issue until drug comapnies came up with these very expensive medications, most of which only make people feel very bad. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but blood pressure and cholesterol are pseudo-issues which have been manufactured by drug companies. The information is out there for anyone who wants it.

I hear you, Wendy! I'm in the US and I've actually been "fired" by doctors for refusing antihypertensives. I'm so sick of them freaking out when they take my blood pressure. I'm finding it impossible to get medical care for anything, because none of them ever addresses my presenting complaint.

I have been switching back & forth with the type of blood pressure meds that increase your blood vessles. I am now taking Losartan Potassium 50 mg with a separate diuretic. My eyes are always swollen and I already have dry eye syndrome. What would be recommended to someone that is sensitive to all meds?

I would think if the ACV keeps it stable, then it's probably OK, but if it's not stable, that's probably not a good enough solution.

I have not had the swelling issue. But I know that these anti-histamines can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. If you have headaches too it could potentially be a serious combination. I hope you can get to your doctor soon. Good luck!

Or it could be you have been under more stress than usual. As your body ages your stress hormones (I can't recall the medical names for thes hormones)decreasess and unable to do their job as they used to. I know my blood pressure goes up during times of stress and I can't handle stress as good as I did when I was younger. Glad to hear resperate works for you. It didn't work for me. The wire plug in my ears and the belt and trying to follow the music at the same time made me nervous and my blood pressure actually went up while I was hooked up. Im hoping they will invent one without all the hook up . LOL

I think I should. At present, the most of the swelling has gone down, after having taken anti-histamine pills. But I am still anxious ..!! Thank for your reply. Have you had any experience of this or do you know anyone who has had it??

I keep getting swelling of my lips and face and I don`t know why this id happening of late. I have been on Ramipril,10 mg and now I have been taking Losartan 25 mg. Twice within 2 weeks I woke up with a very bad scull pain and swollen lips and the half of my face. Does taking Iboprofen and anti- histamine tablets and or nettle tea has any adverse effect on me....??I have got some allergy to something but I don`t know what it is yet...!! Can anybody say something about it??

That's great that ACV is working well to keep BP in the normal range. I haven't tried this yet, but cocoa has worked reasonably well for me in the past. The thing that worked the best for me in getting off meds was to follow a plant based nutrition program along with plenty of vigorous exercise. I don't take meds regularly anymore but still have some on hand in case of a spike, but I rarely go over 130/70 these days.

Doctors always seem to overmedicate without thinking things through. If the patient gets a high reading they jump to conclusions. I also have "white coat syndrome" and my Systolic BP jumps almost 60 points. Keep a log at home and bring it in to the doctors office so you can show him your readings at home. This is a much better indicator of BP trends. I also used Amlodipine and found it to be almost worthless but it was very effective at producing all sorts of bad side effects.

Years ago my doctor wanted to increase my meds but I refused because at home my BP is normal and I have white coat hypertension. Do you take readings at home and if so, are they considerably lower than in the doctor's office?

I'm new to this forum and also to taking blood pressure meds which were recently prescribed about three months ago. I'm also experiencing side effects that make me feel miserable. I can't see continuing like this as I'm having trouble being a productive functioning person on a daily basis. This is so depressing and I see others here are also having bad expereinces too. Has anyone found a workaround to these awful drugs? Honestly I felt better with HBP than I do with normal treated BP.

Wow I knew that commuting and disliking my job not to mention the people I worked with and for was killing me. Thank god my work place closed down when it did and I was made redundant about year and a half ago...I felt sick every day and no one believed me at work. after I left I got very ill and ended up in hospital because of the stress I had to face everyday. This is now 1 and a half years since I was made redundant and I am only just getting better now and I am on an good exercise program i tailored for my self along with sensible eating and losing weight I feel that i am now on the road to recovery I still have a very long way to go. I will take it a day at a time and will continue with my Exercise program everyday until I reach my goals.

Wow I knew that commuting and disliking my job not to mention the people I worked with and for was killing me. Thank god my work place closed down when it did and I was made redundant about year and a half ago…I felt sick every day and no one believed me at work. after I left I got very ill and ended up in hospital because of the stress I had to face everyday.
