Blood pressure levels throughout the day.

Q: I am on medication 3 times a day for HBP. It usually gets to about 150/95 at lunch (11am) & the same at 8pm when I go to bed. Why does this happen with no stress in my life? Is this b/p safe? Thanks

A: Blood pressure varies throughout the day depending upon your activity level. There does not have to be stress in your life for blood pressure to be high. Since your high readings seem to occur at the same time of day, talk to your doctor about when to take your blood pressure medicine. It is possible changing the time you take one or two of your medicines may get you in better control. It is safer to have your blood pressure in good control all day long.
