#39. Oils that contain linoleic acid (64 Non-drug ways to lower blood pressure)

There are some studies that suggest that linoleic acid is important food for lower blood pressure.

The trick is where to significant quanties of linoleic acid other than in supplements.  Some suggested sources include   safflower oil, olive oil, palm oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, egg yolks, spirulina, peanut oil, corn oil,  and wheat germ oil.  In short, a fairly large selection of seed oils contain this substance.

Unfortunately, for the manufacturers to achieve desirable traits such as texture, spreadability and  shelf life of products, the oils are often hydrogenated. Hydrogenation involves reacting the oils with hydrogen gas under pressure and high heat to become saturated fatty acids.  Such saturated fatty acids are not good for you.  So read the labels carefully.  I’ve definitely looked for more natural oils in my diet, and one side effect seems to be that my hair becomes soft, silky and shinny.
